This game uses the tabletop mechanics
from the Changeling the Lost and World
of Darkness sourcebooks with a few edits
and house rules. (You can find these in
our Player resources section)
We use dice to determine the results
of mechanical actions like combat and
magic in-game. I encourage players
to use acting for their social actions
but sometimes the dice will come
out for things like detecting lies or
hidden intentions. Once the dice have
determined a result you continue to act
out the scene with that in mind..
Our game uses a simplified dice system, called 8 div 3. Normally,
in the tabletop rules, you would roll a number of dice equal to
your die pool for that action, derived from the relevant stats on
your sheet. (eg, rolling Intelligence + Investigation to search an
apartment for clues). The simplified system instead takes your dice
pool and treats that as the base value of your roll. You then roll
one 10-sided die and add the result to your pool. If you roll a 1,
the roll automatically fails, and if you roll a 10 you roll again and
add all results to the total. The number rolled plus your Base Pool
is your total and the value of your roll determines your successes.
0-7= no successes. 8 = one Success, and every additional 3 is an
additional success. (So a total of 0-7= failure, 8= 1 success, 11= 2
successes, 14= 3 successes, etc.)
Our game is strictly NON-CONTACT! No simulated combat will
be done with weapon props or bodies. We may occasionally
mime out a conflict after the dice have been rolled but a good
general rule is don’t touch another player without asking
permission. Once given that means handshakes, not hip checks.
